In liu of having a real proper grown up job right now, I've spent the last few days working on a competition entry for the lovely people at Ohh Deer, who specialise in quirky illustrated gifts. I'd say my illustration work pretty much fits slap bang in the middle of that category, so I designed about eight cards which I whittled down to four, featured above. Who knows, you might even see them on the shelves one day!

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful and inspiring parents, who are celebrating 32 years of marriage today! I made them this card using Indian Ink (with a first attempt at a Venetian glass pen), finished off with simple watercolour.
On the 14th of July my first ever nephew was born at a healthy 8 lb 8 oz. To celebrate his illustrious arrival, I had been working on this sea scene for his nursery wall, as his parents were going for a sea theme. It started out as a two colour blue and black sketch but gradually (after many different drafts!) morphed into something more playful and colourful. I sketched it by hand but then used Photoshop to play around with the composition of the piece before deciding which layers of colour should go where.
