Early in January I went to Whitby for the day in search of inspiration for work - the postcard above was one of the end results. Whitby has a rich maritime history and whaling heritage, and I wanted that to be reflected in the final piece of work. After perusing the postcard selections in several of the shops, I was inspired to make my own with a humorous whale-inspired theme. The colour scheme was based on a stick of blackberry rock which I bought by the quayside in a traditional seaside sweet shop. Each letter was inked up and pressed before being scanned into Photoshop for the finishing touches.
